Updated: Among the dean candidates, Jari Koistinaho announced on 31 January that he is withdrawing from the application process for the post of Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences.
A total of 11 applications were received for the four Dean of Faculty positions at the University of Eastern Finland. The call for applications closed on 30 January 2025.
The following person applied for the post of Dean of the Philosophical Faculty: Head of School of Theology, ThD Ilkka Huhta.
The following persons applied for the post of Dean of the Faculty of Science, Forestry and Technology: Vice Dean, Professor, PhD Markku Hauta-Kasari and Dean, Professor, DSc (Tech.) Kari Lehtinen.
The following persons applied for the post of Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences: the current Dean, Professor, DSc (Pharm.) Markus Forsberg; Professor, MD Jari Koistinaho and Head of School of Medicine, Professor, MD Ville Leinonen.
The following persons applied for the post of Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Economics: Professor, DSc (Econ.) Kimmo Alajoutsijärvi; Head of Business School, Professor, DSc (Econ.) Saara Julkunen; Vice Dean, Professor, DSc (Econ.) Tommi Laukkanen; DSc (Tech.), DSc (Econ.) Seppo Leminen and Head of UEF Law School, DSc (Econ.) Matti Turtiainen.
The University of Eastern Finland will select four Deans to direct the faculties’ activities for the term of office from 1 January 2026 to 31 December 2029.
The hearings of the Faculty Councils and the introductions of the applicants to the staff and students of the faculties will be organised in February. The aim is that the Deans will be selected on 28 March.
