– This is a great honour for me. I strongly believe that science and learning will continue to play a key role in the future. They affect how we perceive the world and the direction in which society should be developed. Above all, they are related to how we can ensure the continuity of humanity now and in the future, Naghian says.
– As a multidisciplinary university and a producer of research-based knowledge, the University of Eastern Finland plays an important role not only in the development of Eastern Finland but also in the development of Finland as a whole. It is rewarding and meaningful to be involved in activities where different stakeholders are brought together by science. Together, we seek to find answers to the greatest questions of humanity, society, nature and the world, says Naghian.
The Board of the University of Eastern Finland has ten members. The term of office of the external members and students is two years, whilst the term of office of the staff representatives is four years. The Board defines the university’s central goals and strategy.
