Students will answer citizens’ questions at YUFE Help Desks

Did you know that the Young Universities for the Future of Europe (YUFE) Alliance is present in your hometown? University of Eastern Finland is a member of the YUFE Alliance, which offers a range of opportunities to the students and staff of all its members as well as to the citizens of their region. YUFE aims at bringing local communities and universities closer to each other. One of the first concrete steps in this framework are the YUFE Help Desks.

YUFE Help Desks will provide citizens with the opportunity to ask questions on different topics, such as legal issues, entrepreneurial advice, digital tools/applications, economics, studying, language skills etc. Questions will be answered by students of the YUFE universities under the supervision of university staff.

The first Help Desks will be launched in May 2021, and all information on the respective locations and opening hours will be available/posted in early spring 2021 to citizens’ of YUFE regions, which in Finland are North-Karelia and North-Savo.

Help Desks can be found in the city or on the university campus or are run online. At the Help Desks, you can ask your questions in Finnish or English, and students answering may come from any of the YUFE partner universities.

YUFE will bring Europe to your doorstep by building a strong, forward looking community of citizens and university students and staff, working together for the future of Europe.

YUFE in a nutshell

YUFE is one of the first 17 European University Alliances that have been granted funding by the European Commission for the development of Europe-wide university models. The YUFE Alliance is based on the joint vision of ten young research-oriented universities and four non-academic partners located across Europe. The YUFE partners came together based on their shared dedication to the European spirit, their common aim to contribute to a more competitive, innovative, and united Europe and their ambition to help address today’s challenges.

The members of the Alliance are Maastricht University (The Netherlands), which acts as the coordinator, the University of Eastern Finland, the University of Antwerp (Belgium), the University of Bremen (Germany), the University Carlos III Madrid (Spain), the University of Essex (UK), the University of Cyprus (Cyprus)  as well as Tor VergataUniversity of Rome (Italy), University of Rijeka (Croatia), and the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń (Poland). In addition to academic development, YUFE aims at increasing cooperation between universities.
