UEF donates 20,000 euros to the well-being of children, young people and families

The University of Eastern Finland will donate the funds reserved for the Christmas gifts of its staff to the Järvi-Suomi branch of the Mannerheim League for Child Welfare (MLL).

The University of Eastern Finland will donate the funds reserved for the Christmas gifts of its staff to the Järvi-Suomi branch of the Mannerheim League for Child Welfare (MLL) to support the well-being of children, young people and families. The beneficiary was selected by the academic community through a vote. The donated sum of 20,000 euros will be allocated equally to both campus regions through MLL.

"A huge thanks to you all. The donated funds will be used to support the work done for the benefit of children, young people and families with children in North Karelia and North Savo. A significant share of the families that participate in our activities are vulnerable, and we can support them through this donation in many ways," says the Executive Director of MML’s Järvi-Suomi branch Päivi Turkia.

"The well-being of children, young people and families was by far the most popular target of this year’s donation. This theme received more than 40% of the votes. At the University of Eastern Finland, we believe that supporting the well-being of children and young people is also an investment in the future, and it is a pleasure to be able to cooperate in this with MLL," says the university’s Director of Administration Tuomo Meriläinen
