The MSCA Doctoral Networks has granted funding of 2 million euros to four projects of the University of Eastern Finland. MSCA Doctoral Networks is a part of the EU Horizon programme.
The funded projects will examine chemistry and bioeconomy, molecular sciences and health sciences, and tourism business. The granted funding is for four years and is used to hire doctoral students for projects.

- Professor Antti Haapala, Department of Chemistry: DESTINY – Design and Sustainability Assessment of Innovative biomass production systems and value-chains in the Bioeconomy; 859,464 euros.
- Professor Minna Kaikkonen-Määttä, A.I. Virtanen Institute for Molecular Sciences: MIRACLE – Multilevel inflammatory regulation in cardiometabolic disease; 572,976 euros.
- Professor Seppo Ylä-Herttuala, A.I. Virtanen Institute for Molecular Sciences: BIOMEND – Bioabsorbable Metallic Endovascular Medical Devices Doctoral Network; 286,488 euros.
- Associate Professor Henna Konu, UEF Business School: VIMAS – Visitor monitoring and management in protected and recreational areas: new challenges, novel solutions for the Anthropocene; 286,488 euros.
