UEF’s international programmes attracted interest from all over the world

The application period to the Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes taught in English at the University of Eastern Finland closed yesterday, 22 January 2025, with the university attracting a total of 6,279 applicants.

Four Bachelor’s degree programmes and more than 20 Master’s degree programmes, all of them taught in English at UEF, were inviting applications via this year’s first joint admissions procedure.

The most popular programmes were the Bachelor’s Degree Programme in Information Technology on the Joensuu Campus, attracting 435 applicants, and the Master’s Degree Programme in Public Health on the Kuopio Campus, attracting 848 applicants. The overall student intake to the university’s international degree programmes is around 600 students.

The degree programme taught in English are free of charge for Finnish citizens as well as for citizens of the EU and EEA countries, and Switzerland. Citizens of other countries are required to pay an annual tuition fee of 10,000 euros.

A limited number of scholarships are available for selected students who are required to pay for tuition.

The majority of the applicants, over 90 percent, hailed from outside Finland. Applications were submitted from around the world, from a total of 100 different countries. Currently, the University of Eastern Finland is home to approximately 2,000 international students.

The application period for degree programmes taught in Finnish at the University of Eastern Finland will be open from the 11th  to the 25th of March 2025.
