Boost your confidence, communication skills, and professional presence at our Leadership Presence for Women in STEMM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Medicine) workshop!

The Faculty of Science, Forestry and Technology invites you for an empowering event focused on enhancing leadership presence for women in STEMM fields.

Led by Dr. Angeliki Rigos, the Leadership Presence workshop will take place on Saturday, October 11 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm in the Melania Building, room ME101, Kuopio Campus.

This interactive workshop is open to doctoral researchers, postdocs, research scientists, assistant professors or any other early career professional in STEMM. We will explore the connections between how we feel about ourselves and how others perceive us and the variables in the Leadership Presence equation.

Agenda
• Exploring the elements of the Leadership Presence equation,
• Deep dive into two of the foundational leadership competencies: self-awareness and communication,
• Personal pitch practice with feedback,
• Self-assessing our individual leadership presence and making a plan for personal growth.

Instructor Bio
Dr. Angeliki Rigos is a scientist, educator, and consultant interested in working across disciplines to promote sustainable solutions to global problems. Dr. Rigos began her career as a Principal Scientist at Physical Sciences Inc. She transitioned to Assistant, then Associate Professor of Chemistry at Merrimack College. In 2017, she became the Executive Director of the MIT Tata Center for Technology and Design and in 2019, Program Manager for the DOE funded Center for Enhanced Nanofluidic Transport and Associate Director for Graduate Programs at the MIT Energy Initiative. Concurrently, she co-founded the MIT LEAdership and Professional Skills and Strategies (LEAPS) Program. In 2021, she founded the nonprofit Epistimi, Inc to offer leadership training to women in STEMM globally. Dr. Rigos has been part of the leadership team of the MIT Club of Boston since 2018.

Dr. Rigos holds a B.A. in Chemistry from Cornell University, a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an M.B.A. from Northeastern University and is an alumna of HERS Denver 2015. She served as President of the Massachusetts Chapter of the Association for Women in Science (AWIS) and President of the MIT Club of Boston. She has been teaching leadership to graduate students and postdocs in the MIT Physics Department for the past 6 years.
