Narrativising Borders, Mobilities and Cultural Encounters: 2025 BOMOCULT Conference

Welcome to the 2025 BOMOCULT Conference! 

Keynote Speakers of the conference are Professor Sanjay Chaturvedi (Institute of South Asian Studies, South Asian University, India) and Professor Elisabeth Bekers (Department of Linguistics and Literary Studies at Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Belgium).

Following the established BOMOCULT conference format, this year’s program includes contributions that relate to Borders, Mobilities and Cultural Encounters in the broadest sense, and especially interventions that engage with the increasing narrativisation of people, places and situation related to the multiplicity of borders and border-crossing, national, linguistic, legal, bodily and so on, as well as the consequences of such narratives. 

Programme offers seven thematic sessions with closer to forty paper presentations.

The conference is an on-site event at the University of Eastern Finland, Joensuu campus. The full programme and updates are available on the conference web page.

There is no participation fee, but we ask the participants to register no later than 25 September 2025.
