Work at the University of Eastern Finland continues according to the current system, i.e. both remotely and on campus, also in the spring semester.

A case of COVID-19 has been discovered at Tulliportti Teacher Training School, more specifically in the Länsikatu primary school.

The PhD thesis of Stina Leskelä, MSc, provides novel information on the physiological and pathophysiological functions of the frontotemporal lobar degeneration -associated gene C9orf72, its protein products, and their effects on autophagy and the ubiquitin-proteasome system in neuronal cells.

The Academy of Finland has granted funding from its supplementary budget to four new Flagships for the years 2020–2024. The University of Eastern Finland is involved in three of them.
