Doctoral researchers in the Sustainability Transformations doctoral education pilot (SusTra), coordinated by the University of Eastern Finland, are inviting their partners and networks to join the For Biodiversity fundraiser. SusTra and the School of Resource Wisdom at the University of Jyväskylä (JYU.Wisdom) are running the fundraiser in partnership with the Finnish Natural Heritage Foundation, which focuses particularly on protecting endangered forests.
Companies, organisations, associations and private individuals can all take part in the For Biodiversity fundraiser by donating to support Finnish nature. The areas of land purchased with the donated funds will become the property of the foundation and will be permanently protected under the Nature Conservation Act. You can contribute any amount you like. The campaign runs until the end of 2027.
Stopping biodiversity loss requires action from everyone. Can we direct some of the resources currently used in ways that deteriorate biodiversity to help protect life on Earth? It is the responsibility of the current generation to ensure that Finland’s species and natural habitats are preserved for the future. However, the current level of public funding is not enough to halt biodiversity loss in Finland. By taking part in the fundraiser, you can help create a world that nurtures planetary well-being.
SusTra is a doctoral education pilot led by the University of Eastern Finland (UEF), involving ten universities and the Finnish Environment Institute (Syke). Running from 2025 to 2027, SusTra will train 40 doctoral researchers in Finland. In addition to UEF, SusTra includes Aalto University, the University of Helsinki, the University of Jyväskylä, the University of Lapland, LUT University, the University of Oulu, Tampere University, the University of Turku and the University of Vaasa.

The fundraiser has a fundraising permit RA/2020/921applied for by JYU.Wisdom. All donated funds go directly to the Finnish Natural Heritage Foundation without any deductions.
