Employment of UEF graduates remains strong

Less than 2 percent of those who graduated from the University of Eastern Finland in 2020 were unemployed in October 2025.

According to a career monitoring survey conducted in autumn 2025 among those who graduated in 2020, less than 2% were unemployed in October 2025.

The survey, with a 49% response rate (952 respondents), is part of a national study conducted across 13 universities. At the time of the survey, 95.1% of respondents were employed, self-employed, or working on grants, while 3.2% were outside the labour force and 1.8% were unemployed. These results are consistent with the previous year’s survey.

Full employment was observed among graduates in administrative sciences, law, psychology, and medicine (including dentists). No unemployment was reported among graduates in pharmacy, business, or agriculture and forestry. The highest unemployment rates (just over 4%) were found among graduates in the humanities and theology.

All psychology graduates, medical doctors, and dentists were employed in positions matching their education level. Similarly, 95% of law graduates and 86% of education graduates worked in roles requiring a master’s degree.

A majority (59%) of respondents worked in the public sector, with 27% in municipalities, 17% in government, and 15% in wellbeing services counties. Nearly one-third were employed in the private sector.

Overall, 67.5% of respondents were satisfied with their degree in terms of their career, slightly above the national average (64%). The most satisfied groups were medical doctors, dentists, and law graduates, who also felt their degrees were highly valued by employers.
