Researchers in climate law at the University of Eastern Finland are participating in 4I TRACTION -project seeking to develop and assess transformative policies and an effective governance framework to implement them in accordance with the EU's objective of climate-neutrality by 2050.
The project, lauching in June, has secured three-year funding from the EU's Horizon 2020 programme. The total budget is almost four million euros, of which UEF's budget is 356219 euros.
The University of Finland's research in the project is led by Professor of International Law Kati Kulovesi at the Law School and the Center for Climate Change, Energy and Environmental Law. Other participant in the UEF research team in the project is Early Stage Researcher Katri Varis.
4I TRACTION (Innovation, Investment, Infrastructure and sector Integration: TRAnsformative policies for a ClimaTe-neutral European UnION) -project seeks to develop and analyse how the current EU policies should evolve to set course for climate neutrality by 2050. The project is based on the established need for structural innovation in the area of policy-making and governance.
4I TRACTION -project is led by the Ecologic Institute (Germany), other participants being the Climate Analytics -organisation (Germany), Vrije Universiteit Brussels (Belgium), CE Delft – a research and consultancy organisation (the Netherlands), WiseEuropa Institute (Poland), I4CE Institute (France), Universidad De Vigo (Spain) and Wageningen University (the Netherlands).
