More than 100 researchers and students will participate in the already 19th MRI workshop in Kuopio. The international workshop is organised by the Biomedical Imaging Unit at the A. I. Virtanen Institute. This year, the workshop will focus on the advanced MRI methodology that can be used to assess tissue microstructure, function and metabolism more accurately and artefact free than before, in animals and humans. During the workshop, the participants have a chance to attend both practical demonstrations and scientific lectures given by top researchers in the field. For example, assistant Professor Xin Yu will show how brain activity can be localized more accurately than before, and Professor Sune Jespersen will talk about the latest developments in the water movement-based analysis of tissue microstructure.
“In a way, we have a window to future here – we will see many new techniques that will likely improve the treatment of patients and accelerate drug development in the future”, says one of the organisers, Professor Olli Gröhn.
The 19th Kuopio bio-MRI workshop and post-graduate course – Advanced MRI methods for assessment of microstructure, metabolism and function will take place in Microteknia, Kuopio, on 31 May to 2 June 2022.
