Eight new members were elected to the Finnish Society of Sciences and Letters.
The Finnish Society of Sciences and Letters has elected eight new members. These individuals bring distinguished expertise in their respective fields and will further strengthen scientific excellence both in Finland and internationally.
The following scientists were elected as members of the Finnish Society of Sciences and Letters on 15 December 2025:
- Professor Susanna Fagerholm, University of Helsinki
- Professor Tuomas Heikkilä, University of Helsinki
- Professor Mikko Karttunen, University of Eastern Finland
- Professor, Research Director Johan Lundin, FIMM – Institute for Molecular Medicine Finland
- Professor Suvi Saarikallio, University of Jyväskylä
- Professor Olli Vapalahti, University of Helsinki
- Professor Patric Östergård, Aalto University
The following scientist was elected as a foreign member:
- Professor Sebastian Hasenstab-Riedel, Freie Universität Berlin
The Finnish Society of Sciences and Letters is Finland’s oldest academy of sciences. Since 1838, it has brought together the leading representatives of the Finnish scientific community.
