The Research Council of Finland’s Scientific Council for Social Sciences and Humanities has granted 2.8 million euros of funding to four new Academy Projects and one new Academy Research Fellow at the University of Eastern Finland.
The total funding comes to around 23 million euros for Academy Research Fellowships and around 36 million euros for Academy Projects. Fundings are awarded for four years.
The applications were of high scientific quality and characterised by methodological diversity, problem-oriented approaches and a focus on societal challenges. The applications also highlighted extensive international cooperation. The funding decisions cover the entire scientific scope of social sciences and humanities research.
Funding Granted at the University of Eastern Finland
Academy Research Fellow funding was awarded to Project Researcher Kiran Pala (785 209 euros): InferCogAgebility: An Inference-Supported Conversation Protocol for Elderly Individuals with Cognitive Impairment.
Visiting Researcher Päivi Armila’s project: Sustainable Rural Futures: Qualitative longitudinal study of rural young people in the 21st century, 491 797 euros.
Associate Professor Maija Dahlberg’s project: Courts as Protectors of the Rule of Law: Early Signs of Rule of Law Erosion and Repair Kit from Legal, Philosophical and Political Perspectives, 499 965 euros.
Professor Marja Laasonen’s project: Determinants and consequences of development in language and communication (DLD-Global), 600 000 euros.
Professor Irmeli Mustalahti’s project: Intergenerational learning and inclusion of young people in collaborative environmental governance, 599 325 euros.
The Research Council of Finland’s (RCF) Scientific Council for Social Sciences and Humanities made the funding decisions on 17 June.
