UEF professors’ traditional inaugural lectures can be followed online in May

The lecture topics range from radiation biology to forest planning, and from pharmaceutical policy and brain health to literature and education.

The University of Eastern Finland’s newly appointed professors will give their traditional inaugural lectures on 22–25 May 2023. Like in the previous years, the lectures will be streamed on the university’s Vimeo channel where they can be viewed by everyone interested.

This year, a total of 16 professors from the university’s four faculties will give a lecture, providing a popular overview of the key themes of their discipline and own research.

The lecture topics include, e.g., forest planning, radiation biology, evolutionary biology, brain health, pharmaceutical policy, literature research, early childhood education, educational science, and contract law.

“Once again, our professors’ spring-time inaugural lectures provide everyone with an excellent opportunity to gain research-based knowledge from leading experts in the various disciplines of our university. The inaugural lectures will lead viewers to think about topical phenomena and fundamental questions of science. The range of the lecture topics is also a wonderful demonstration of the broad nature and key role our professors play in leading the university’s multidisciplinary research communities,” Rector Jukka Mönkkönen says.

The professors’ inaugural lectures will be streamed on the university’s Vimeo channel on 22–25 May, and the videos will remain on the channel for later viewing.
