The Eastern Finland Higher Education Mentoring Programme for the academic year 2025–2026 is starting soon. Apply now!

Karelia University of Applied Sciences, Savonia University of Applied Sciences, and the University of Eastern Finland have a joint mentoring program that has been implemented since 2018. The mentoring program is based on a cooperation agreement between the universities.

Mentoring is a popular method for developing skills, well-suited for the goal-oriented sharing of experiences, knowledge, as well as cultural and tacit knowledge. The most common form of mentoring is pair mentoring. Mentoring can take place within an organization or between the universities in Eastern Finland. A mentor can also be an alumnus or a working life partner of the university.

For the 2025-2026 mentoring program, we are looking for mentors who can mentor on the following themes: development in supervisory work, strengthening higher education pedagogical competence, and effective project work. With this form, you can register as a mentor. After the application process, the mentees will choose a suitable mentor for themselves. Mentoring will take place if a mentee is found for you.

Mentoring Program Training for mentees and mentors will be conducted online as follows:
- Mentors on Monday, September 29, 2025, from 13:00 to 14:30 (Teams) Mentees on Thursday, October 2, 2025, from 13:00 to 14:30 (Teams)
- The joint kick-off meeting for mentors and mentees will be held as an in-person meeting on Friday, October 24, 2025, in Kuopio from 13:00 to 16:00. The group transportation will be organized from Joensuu.
- The mentoring program's closing event will be held as an in-person meeting on Friday, June 5, 2026, in Joensuu from 12:00 to 15:00. The group transportation will be organized from Kuopio.

There is no remote participation option for the kick-off and closing meetings.

The mentoring program also includes a mid-term meeting online, the date of which will be announced later.

The mentoring program's training and in-person meetings will be in Finnish. However, mentoring pairs can choose English as their mentoring language.
