Learning outcomes:
The student is able to observe the functioning of the language community and can extract elements from it to enhance their own language skills. They can follow current events described in the news, acquire new information based on their language skills, and develop their language skills independently. They begin to distinguish the main features of standard and colloquial language, know the typical structures of colloquial language, and apply them. The student can express emotions, wishes, and opinions. They are familiar with Finnish history and culture, as well as the functioning of society, and can compare their observations with their own culture.
The objective is to attain the level A2.2 of the Common European Framework of Reference.
Study methods: Active participation in distance teaching. The course consists of lectures, spoken and written pair and group exercises, peer feedback and independent work.
The successful completion of the course and participating in a possible exam requires active participation and the completion of course assignments within the given schedule.
Schedule: The course will be held from January 12 to April 13. Teaching on Mondays and Wednesdays at 14-16.

Please note that this course requires some previous studies in Finnish language (the course Finnish 2B or similar course). Before registering, you can take a course placement test to evaluate if this course is suitable for you.
The course fee is 20 euros per ECTS credit point. The prices are valid for the 2025-2026 academic year.
