Frontiers in Health Sciences seminar series continues with a presentation by Senior Researcher Päivi Pihlajamaa from University of Helsinki (Finland).

Päivi Pihlajamaa is a senior scientist at the Applied Tumor Genomics Program at Faculty of Medicine, University of Helsinki and at the Academy of Finland’s Center of Excellence in Tumor Genetics Research. She has long-standing interest in understanding how aberrant transcriptional pathways promote tumorigenesis. To this end, she is using modern CRISPR/Cas9-based methods to elucidate the functional relationship between transcription factor binding, gene expression, and cell proliferation.

The title of her presentation is “Identifying transcription factor binding sites essential for cancer cell proliferation using novel CRISPR methods”.

The seminar is organized by the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Eastern Finland.

The seminar will be held in English via Zoom and is open to everyone interested.
