University of Eastern Finland 40 years of Forest Sciences

Forty years of Forest Sciences in Joensuu celebration. Welcome everyone interested in Joensuu forest sciences!

This year, The School of Forest Sciences celebrates forty years of forest education and related scientific activities in Joensuu. Three seminars and evening event will be held on Friday 9th of September 2022 on the Joensuu campus, Carelia building. There will be various accompanying sessions between seminars and evening celebrations, such as course lunches for annual courses and other gatherings.

Morning program includes three seminars. Participation in them is free. First "Joensuu – the Capital of Forest Sciences" (in English) and then two parallel seminars "Development of the highest education in forest sciences in Joensuu" (in Finnish) and "Role of Forests and wood in climate change" (in English). Listing of top-notch forest experts as speakers and panellists.

Light artist Kari Kola is creating a festive light installation for the evening party premises. Live music is provided during the evening, starting with calm harmonies by the male quartet Pienet Sievät and later the local cover band Suklaamunat will bring up the energy to the dance floor.

Tickets for the evening party can be purchased until 28 August. Registrations for seminars by 4 September.
