Drones have quickly become a widely used tool for forest mapping, but traditional field work still maintains its footing. By combining different types of data, it is possible to find the most cost-effective method for forest inventory.

The funding will be used to promote research activities in areas of significance to the university, which pertain to drug development and discovery, neurosciences, the forest-based bioeconomy, and the development of technologies that make use of photonics. 

External funding has given a boost to the development of research and education in the forest-based bioeconomy and medical computing alike.
