YUFE Help Desk services respond to the questions presented by citizens in campus cities as well as students and staff in YUFE universities.
The services are volunteer work provided by YUFE universities’ students while guided by their instructors. These services aid surrounding communities in many different ways. Students have the opportunity to utilise their knowledge and gain practical experience in their own field. Students may also receive a YUFE Civic Star award for their volunteer work and possibly study credits, depending on their major.
YUFE universities offer 18 different Help Desk services.
Help Desk at UEF
The University of Eastern Finland offers a Finnish-English-Finnish language help desk. The service is provided by students majoring in English or Finnish.
You can ask the help desk for assistance regarding terminology or proof-reading of short texts in from Finnish to English and vice versa. The service is free of charge.
Volunteer work
YUFE universities’ students and staff, and in some cases local citizens, can participate in volunteer work through YUFE within the YUFE Community Volunteering programme.
With 50 hours of volunteer work, you may receive a YUFE Civic Star award. A local citizen in a campus city may receive this award from the YUFE Friend activity.
YUFE cooperation offers civic organisations, associations, and for instance actors in the health care system, an additional route to finding volunteers. In the best-case scenario, volunteer work can continue for long after receiving a Civic Star award.
