The international Paediatric Work Physiology conference, focusing on children's exercise and health, will be held in the natural surroundings of Peurunka on 9–12 September 2025. Organised by the University of Jyväskylä, the conference also involves experts from the University of eastern Finland.
You don't need to be a researcher to participate – if you are sports coach, health practitioner, teacher, or otherwise interested in children's sports and exercise and athletic development, health effects of climate change in children, and how sports and exercise can act as a countermeasure for climate change, this meeting is for you.
The conference themes are Children, exercise, and planetary health, as well as Long-term athletic development in a changing world. The conference will be chaired by Dr Eero Haapala, Docent at the University of Eastern Finland and University Lecturer at the University of Jyväskylä.

- Professor Tiina Ikäheimo: Physical activity and exercise in extreme weather conditions in children and adolescents
- Professor Arja Sääkslahti: Young children’s outdoor playing, motor development and perceived motor competence as predictors of physical activity during school years
Registration is open until 29 August and there is also a one-day participation option, so you can choose the topics that interest you most. The price for one day (€195) includes both the scientific and social programs, lunch, dinner, and coffee.
