UEF is opening applications for its international degree programmes due to increasing demand for immediate study opportunities in Finland. The changed geopolitical situation has resulted in continuous inquiries towards our university. The supplementary application round for International Master’s degree programmes is open from 30 May to 13 June 2022.
“We usually have only one intake per year for our International Degree Programmes and there is a long time until the next application round in January 2023. Naturally we hope that students whose studies have been interrupted will take advantage of this opportunity,” Academic Rector Tapio Määttä says.
The student selection in this application period will be based on normal admission criteria. Applicants begin the application process in the national Studyinfo portal. The admission results of the supplementary application round will be published by 11 July 2022, and the studies at UEF will begin at the start of September.
In the supplementary application round, applicants can apply for admission to the following programmes:
- Early Language Education for Intercultural Communication
- Linguistic Data Sciences
- Pedagogy and Teaching for Sustainability
- Medical Physics
UEF grants waivers based on temporary protection
A student may apply for a 100 % tuition fee waiver on humanitarian grounds if they are liable to pay tuition fees and have been accepted into an International Master’s Degree Programme at the University of Eastern Finland, and they arrive in Finland on account of requiring temporary protection. The grant is awarded as a 100 % tuition fee waiver for the target duration of completing a degree.
“UEF has already offered studies that do not lead to a degree to Ukrainian students studying at Ukrainian universities. We received over 130 applications during the application period in March and have offered admission to 42 students. Nearly ten of these students have already arrived on our campus. Also, these students can apply for admission to the Master’s degree programmes if they meet the eligibility and admissions criteria,” says Määttä.
In addition to the humanitarian tuition waiver, there are general tuition waivers (70 %) available to all students from outside of the European Union, European Economic Area and Switzerland. There are no tuition fees for EU and EEA citizens.
– The supplementary application round is open for all nationalities, and all students who are looking for a place to study in Finland.
