From Campus to Career

Have you ever wondered how to find your way after graduation in Finland? From Campus to Career is an event that brings you information about the strengths and skills that humanities graduates can offer in working life. You get to hear enlightening career stories and tips on how to stand out in your job search. The event is tailored to UEF humanities students, but anyone interested in job search is welcome. The first and partly the third session of the day are held in English, and English guidance is available in the LinkedIn Workshop, too. Check out the programme below and register by 14 March 2024. I Humanities graduates at Work 8.45–9.45 AG100

Students graduating from the humanities are generalists with a myriad of career opportunities. What can humanities graduates offer employers and what are our strengths in job search? Researcher and writer Lotta Aarikka discusses, among others, these questions. Do you dream of an interesting and challenging job in an international environment? EU Careers Ambassador at UEF Sanni Heinonen tells us about the diverse career opportunities of the European Union.

How to write a CV that stands out from the crowd? What to include in a CV? How to present skills and competences? Pop in room AG104 for tips to hone your CV. Make the most of the guidance by bringing your CV either digitally or on paper and by giving some thought to your future wishes: what kind of expert jobs are you interested in? CV guidance is provided by Taina Ukkola (from Language Experts, a trade union for people specializing in multilingual communications). Language: English and Finnish. Note! Pre-registration is not necessary.

13.15–14.30 AG102 LinkedIn workshop: LinkedIn is a key tool in building professional networks and looking for work opportunities. In our LinkedIn workshop you can set up your own profile or update it. Hanna Reinikainen from UEF Career Services will give you tips on how to use LinkedIn efficiently in your job search. Panel: Humanities graduates in a changing world 15.00–16.00 AG100

A humanities degree prepares you for a wide range of possible jobs. We live in a time when various crises and technological advances are changing the world around us at a rapid rate. How do these changes affect the position and opportunities of humanities graduates in working life?

Rysky Riiheläinen, Milla Tynnyrinen and Tiina Ylikahri discuss these themes, chaired by Karoliina Keskitalo from the School of Humanities student working group. Janne "Rysky" Riiheläinen is an AI-specialized marketing and communications professional, nonfiction writer and columnist. Milla Tynnyrinen is an expert on Karelian language and culture who works on Karelian language revival. Tiina Ylikahri is an international marketing and communications specialist whose background is in studying Russian language and culture.
