Why it is vital for today’s organizations to acknowledge international and multicultural aspects in their activities? What kind of skills are critical for organizations and future talents when working environments are becoming more and more multicultural? What are the strengths Humanities students and graduates have in these multicultural and multilingual working environments?

Towards International Working Life event deals with various questions related to culturally diverse working life in Finland and working abroad. The keynote speaker Katja Toropainen is the founder of Inklusiiv organization that advances diversity and inclusion in working life. She is recognized as an influential figure in IT and is the former Chief Curator of Slush, European startup and tech event.

The program also includes experiences and comments from working life and traineeships along with information about JobTeaser and EURES platforms that bring job seekers and employers together. In the afternoon, we offer two workshops targeted for Humanities students and graduates in Eastern Finland. The workshops will be held in Finnish.

The event is organized by two initiatives at the University of Eastern Finland (UEF): "HUMUS – The Evolving Working Life and the Humanities" and "KOVAT – Coaching International Experts to Work". Both initiatives are funded by The European Social Fund (ESF).

Target groups: Humanities (languages, cultural studies & history) students and graduates, international experts, employers, and other interested parties.
