Researchers at the University of Eastern Finland and the University of Namibia used diverse remote sensing data to ascertain how elephants and other large herbivorous mammals affect vegetation and its structure.

The name of the Faculty of Science and Forestry at UEF will be changed to the Faculty of Science, Forestry and Technology, effective from 1 January 2023.

The doctoral conferment festivities in Kuopio culminated in the ceremonial conferment of degrees at the Music Centre in Kuopio on Friday. Doctorates were conferred upon 122 doctoral graduates as well as upon 13 honorary doctors. For the first time in a long while, the conferment procession was seen on the streets of Kuopio.

In the conferment ceremony, doctorates will be conferred upon 126 doctoral graduates, as well as upon 13 honorary doctors. For the public, the programme includes, e.g., Studia Generalia lectures, an exhibition, and an opportunity to attend an ecumenical service.

The university is inviting applications to a total of 20 early stage researcher positions in all fields and doctoral programmes of the university.
