The Department of Technical Physics has secured new Business Finland Research to Business funding for the ER4Surgery project.

Two adult Saimaa ringed seals were successfully translocated from Pihlajavesi basin to Kolovesi basin and to the southern part of Lake Saimaa in late May.

The Academy of Finland’s Research Council for Natural Sciences and Engineering has granted 3.5 million euros of funding to new Academy Projects at the University of Eastern Finland.

Two research trails utilizing location-based game have been opened up in Pirkanmaa forests. The UNITE Geotrail research project of the University of Eastern Finland collects information on people's forest experiences and preferences and tests a method for collecting research data based on mobile technology and gameplay using geocaches.

The university was ranked in the top 50 in the SDGs related to Responsible Consumption and Production and Climate Action.
